SAHEON STATION

source: the gsgw fandom wiki ^_^

Baek Saheon, code name Goat, is a member of Field Operations Team F-Squad and is the first named character Kim Soleum met. He was Kim Soleum's roommate in the company dorms. In the DER wiki, he was nicknamed Viper because of his ruthless tendencies. Three years later, he was promoted to Section Chief of Field Operations Team H-Squad.

He is an extreme egoist who is obsessed with practical benefit and only cares about himself. According to Kim Soleum, there is no one among his peers with stronger survival instincts than Baek Saheon. He is a person who has the tenacity to climb back up no matter how much he is stepped on. He has a typical Haraguro disposition, committing morally wrong actions for his own benefit and safety, despite his innocent and weak impression.

Baek Saheon has a high intelligence and drive. He's able to immediately plan and execute escape from Darknesses with minimal information. Ultimately, his questionable personality is the result of a tragic past rooted in the peculiarities of his hometown, Jisan Village, which made him desperately focus on his own survival. Though he eventually develops a more generous attitude towards the agent who saved him in Jisan, helping him without benefitting himself and offering to protect him. He even expresses a level of guilt when the agent scolds him.

Baek Saheon is from Jisan Village, located in ■■-ri, Asan-si, Chungcheongnam-do. It was a village where his clan (Baek) has been living for generations. He had an older sister, but she died after being chosen as the village's offering years ago. As an adult, Baek Saheon was forced to return to the village every year, otherwise he would die.

FUN FACTS

  • Saheon is in his 20s. His birthday is May 11.
  • His blood type is A and he's estimated to be around 180cm.
  • Saheon has a total of 106 Exploration Records. Of these, 17 are special cases recorded in the wiki.
  • His special equipment is a Three-color Ballpoint Pen. When the end is pressed, the nib pops out and explodes like a firecracker. It's a lethal weapon intended for confusion. Saheon attached it to the sole of his left shoe and loaded it by hitting the heel of his left foot twice.
  • Other items he has are his Black-Purple eye and the Necronomicon given to him by Kim Soleum.
  • His lunch recommendation is Tomato Gratin.
  • Jang Heowoon describes Saheon as a kind person. They're batchmates and in the same Squad.

    WHY I LOVE SAHEON

Surprisingly enough, Saheon wasn't always my favorite character! When I started GSGW back in 2025, Kim Soleum was actually my favorite. I like Saheon, sure, but I mainly only got into him for the Solsah ship (which I still love.) Though, even then, my perception of him and his relationship dynamic within Solsah was very different... It wasn't until I got to Jisan Arc that I began to fully understand Saheon and fell in love with his character.

Everything about him captivated me. I found him incredibly interesting, both in how he was written from a reader's perspective, and also because many aspects of his life hit close to home. Our similar upbringings made me see myself in him. I was able to understand him on a personal level and, over time, became very endeared by him. I adore his narrative; How Baek Deoksoo explores grief, imperfect victims and what it looks like when someone doesn't heal, and religious societies through Saheon made me appreciate him and his place in the story deeply.

Not only that, but Saheon is also just very entertaining! I love whenever he appears in a new chapter or arc, because seeing his dynamic with other characters is always fun. Watching his mindset develop over time has also been something personal to me. Saheon means a lot to me as a character and I love him dearly for everything he is.

In my opinion, Saheon is the most human character in GSGW. He displays humanity in such a beautiful way. He's selfish and desperate and he bites because he's scared. He's the epitome of human nature. Sometimes it's difficult to understand him due to Kim Soleum's unreliable narration, but Saheon isn't really a sadist or a psychopath at all. He's not a good person, but ultimately, his personality is a survival mechanism. If spite is all he has to live for, how can we blame him for living out of spite? For having a desire to do more with his life? To live?

Not only that, but I find his people-pleasing tendencies extremely endearing. He's cute as a whole, really, down to all of his little mannerisms and dramatic inner dialogue. I love him. I love his writing. I love his personality. I love every scene he's in. I love everything about him. I love Baek Saheon!!!
